Work Exchange FAQ

Do you have a Volunteer Work Exchange program and what does it look like?   

Why yes we do and you have found it!  Volunteers have played an important role in the success of the Summit. For us, we get a team of folks who are passionate about Mindful Leadership and Mindfulness at Work to help put together the world's largest gathering around Mindfulness and Compassion in the Workplace. As a  work exchange participant you will have the opportunity to connect with other volunteers, the Mindful Leader Team, and get hooked up with complimentary access to parts of the Summit.  The shifts and the complimentary access are described below. There are no options for complimentary access to Thursday or Sunday intensives.

What are the basic requirements?  

As a  work exchange participant you will be held to the same standards as the Mindful Leader Team. All team members are expected to treat one another & attendees with kindness, to maintain integrity, and remain professional. This is a volunteer work exchange program and you will be working. We reserve the right to ask you to leave at any time should there be concerns about your ability to meet the requirements.  

What does the process look like?   

1) Read the FAQ (you're almost done).   
2) Review the Shifts & Sign-up for a Shift (NOTE: there are a limited number of spots per shift).   
3) Attend Volunteer Orientation conference call. The conference call will be the week before the event. You will receive an email with more details a few weeks before the event.
4) Show up at the hotel, on the right day, at the right time, and check in at the Registration table.
5) Work your shift with kindness, integrity and professionalism!
6) Enjoy your complimentary Summit sessions.

Will food be provided?

We will have snacks, coffee, tea and water. For meals you are on your own.

Is there a dress code?

We ask volunteers to wear white tops and black bottoms. The general attire is business casual.  

What shifts are available?   

This year we have 4 shifts.   

Shift 1: Friday Morning - Registration Support (November 2 from 5:30 am - 10:00 am)
Complimentary Summit Access: Friday from 10:30 am - 5:30 pm + Friday Reception

Description: Working with the registration manager & team, assist with setting up the registration area. Graciously welcome attendees to the conference. Check the guests in and provide them with their name badge and any supporting materials. Familiarize yourself with the general flow of events, where rooms are situated, and what the hotel has to offer with regards to food options in order to be a good resource for attendees. Provide guidance with regards to program details.

Shift 2: Friday All Day - Usher (November 2 from 9:30 am - 5:30 pm)
Complimentary Summit Access: Saturday from 7:00 am - 5:30 pm + Saturday Reception

Description: Familiarize yourself with the layout of the hotel and the program of events. Welcome guests and provide directional information to assist them in finding their way to the appropriate room/session. Direct guests as necessary to the registration area, yoga room, meditation room or sessions. Work with room managers to ensure the smooth running of each session by managing the capacity of the rooms (creating a waiting area if necessary).

Shift 3: Saturday Morning -  Registration Support (Saturday, November 3 from 5:30 am - 10:00 am)
Complimentary Summit Access: Saturday from 10:30 am - 5:30 pm + Saturday Reception
